I also watched The Wolverine movie yesterday, and it was ok, I could let most of the stuff slide, except for one major fuck up in my book. The way they merged Deadpool with Weapon/Agent 11.
Now I am not a fanboy by any stretch (No offense to those that are). I had a few comics I liked, and just got them when the opportunity presented itself. But, I will readily admit to being a huge Deadpool fan. I love his insane humor, the non-stop action, breaking the 4th wall, and everything else with the character.
The way they presented Wade is cool, I even like the choice of actor, as the build and wiseass personality are covered. I don’t recall him being able to stop bullets with his swords, but since Wade Wilson the mercanary and his abilities are hardly covered I will allow them some liberty with that.
As Deadpool he has a Regenerative ability taken from wolverine, which also enhanced his physical traits to above human levels (his muscles never get tired, and will never tear etc). As Wade we know he was a Mercenary, but that’s aboout it. So I will let that slide.
Us Deadpool Fans will have a shot at redemption. They have greenlighted the Deadpool movie. Ryan Reynolds is reprizing his roll. According to an interview with him, he would only do the Deadpool movie if it was made 100% faithfull to the comics, so we can only hope that he has some control over the script. I also can tell from the interviews that he is an actual fan of the character, and wants to do it right.
Personally I can accept the Wolverine fuck over if they do a few things, and with the right amount of support perhaps we can get this post enough exposure to reach the people that could make them happen. So Deadpool fans, leave comments, and spread this to as many people as you can via digg, stumble etc. Only if you like the ideas of course, I would never ask you to support something you didn’t agree with.
___here we go___ Movie starts after the end of the wolverine movie with wilson being rescued from the rubble by government guys. His head is reattached, but it should be obvious that something has changed (they mention the bonding process wasn’t complete and I can’t help but feel they left that in specifically as an out for his powers disappearing).
He should be showing signs of radiation damage.
They should use an abbreviated version of the events of the Hospice with Ajax and Killebrew. It should not take long, perhaps even being done partially as the opening montage showing the experiments, and his gradual decline into cancer. Regardless it needs to include the part with the deadpool gambling, the lobotomy of his buddy, and his subsequent death/rebirth.
I do not think Ajax should be the villein of the movie, that would make a good sequel if the movie does well enough to get a sequel (money wise).
At some point in this short bit of the movie he needs to be seen reading something. He then looks right at the camera and says something to the effect of “I figured if I read through these I would come across where I was able to do all that cool shit from the wolverine movie” holds up a deadpool comic and shrugs his shoulders. “Mustive had me confused with someone else”, tosses the comic over his shoulder.
___It would be a perfect example of his breaking the 4th wall. Maybe even referencing the Ryan Reynolds crossed with a Shar-Pei line.___
At least one Baraka joke is a must, as everyone is right, that’s precisely who he looked like with those stupid swords in his arms. I don’t care what they have to do to get the right to say it.
___To do so would again be a perfect example of his breaking the 4th wall, and getting some retribution for the origins movie.___
I don’t think it should cover the rest of his history in great detail. He was never affiliated with any organization long enough to really base the movie on it, but it would take waaaaay too long to try to do justice to the things he did in those organizations separately. They need to settle on either one of his guest appearances where he became one of the leads, or one of his solo stories, and just toss in references to his other activities.
Or in true deadpool fashion, after the escape from the hospice it could switch to a late night TV set, and have deadpool walk out in his mask and a tux and just fill everyone in on the important stuff about what he did before the movie starts, and mention the fact it sucks having to just figure it out for yourself while watching a movie.
Possible stories to go with: The Black Tom story, where he helps Siyren and Banshee, and get’s Killebrew to “fix” his healing ability.
The Tolliver story. This would bring in Cable, Domino, Copycat, Slayback, and other good characters.
I think going much further would both be too much history to deal with, and screw with the chance of a good sequel.
Another possible path would be to get the original writer to help work on a brand new story for it.
Personally I like the notion of setting up his past relationship with Copycat (maybe him finding out he has cancer, and dumping her only to return home and have sabertooth and striker there tying into the wolverine movie). From there going into the Tolliver story would be good.
One of the good things about Deadpool is he was a supporting character for a long time, so many of his early stories don’t need much background information to work.
I think either of those stories would work pretty well, as they have everything a movie needs to work. A babe love interest, great villeins (slayback was short lived as a villein, but he looks cool as hell), and something at stake.
On the detractors side I must say the Black Tom Story lacks action, and the problem with his regeneration would be odd since the film (should) starts with him getting it back.
On the other hand the Tolliver story involves a lot of side characters/elements (the intitial assignment to kill cable, copycat posing as Domino, tolliver getting killed, then the hunt for his toyes). Plus only part of storiess events revolve around Deadpool, so without some major reworking it would be more like Deadpool and company.
So perhaps a purely new story would be best. Something set during his freelance days where there is nothing but free space to roam in, because nothing has been put in stone about what he did in those days. That would make it easy to bring in Weasel, and even Blind Al, without needing every mutant and their daughter as supporting cast.
Whatever way they choose to go I just hope they do the character right. I don’t care if it bombs at the boxoffice, if they do it right, it will live forever as a cult classic.
Will that’s about it on that topic, and remember to post your comments, and do all that good social bookmarking, and stuff cause there are never too many good ideas for a movie like Deadpool where they should feel like they cn get away with anything!

HAHA love the part about he should be reading a Deadpool comic! I have faith that Ryan Reynolds will make sure the movie is done right.
Never read deadpool before, looks like a cool comic. have to check it out. if the movie is even half as good as youre hoping i cant wait!
