Oddly enough I have been looking around on the net and have seen a lot of negativity towards him. Mostly it boils down to: Some say he is offensive with his puppet caricatures. Others just say he’s not funny. Personally I find him to be a riot.
According to many of these people that call him offensive, that makes me low brow, middle america, trash… Hmmm, who’s stereotyping and being offensive now?
Not that I don’t agree to some degree, but I would like to point out that it’s still hypocritical.
I enjoy the comedy of George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Bill Mahr and even Lenny Bruce. Guys that are/were not afraid to get as high brow and intellectual with there comedy as you can get, but also not afraid to pop out some pussy and fart jokes.
On the other hand I can also laugh at guys like Dunham, and Larry the Cable Guy, and Ron White, and Bill Engvall who; by the way, does a pretty good job of combining the red neck style with the upper class styles of comedy.
Some actually have the audacity to say Dave Chappelle is a genius and Dunham is garbage. Okay, to each his own. I like Chappelle, but anyone that says Dunham is offensive for using stereotypes, better check their glasses, cause about 90% of what Chappelle does is based on stereotypes, and not just black ones.
I think this is all a part of the new double standard concerning white men. It has become a trend to say white guys are the worse thing that’s happened to the world. Nevermind the fact that everything we are accused of goes on everywhere, whether any white guys are there or not.
Anyway, the double standard is to ignore anything anyone not white and male does that could be considered racist of stereotyping, and coming down like a hammer on any white guys that do the same. The comedy of many non-white, and female (in general) comedians is sexiest, and racist yet they generally don’t get much heat for it.
So it’s ok for black comedians to use face paint to “look white” and make fun of white people, but that model (well, shes a woman, so it’s gotta be the men in charge of the magazines fault right…) that did the magazine spread in “black face” is being offensive right.
How about a little consistency. My ancestry is mostly Irish, and I contend that the Irish have been fucked over worse than the Blacks ever were. At least Slaves have a value to their owners. During the period of time England controlled Ireland, the Irish were less than slaves. Any british citizen could do anything to anyone Irish, and get away with it. They were less than slaves!
I also contend that as bad; or worse, has been done to the Native Americans, the Jewish, what African dictators and warlords do to their own people every day, and countless other examples of people in general, being shitty to each other.
I’m tired of the double standards, and with being labeled a bad person just because I’m white and male.
So what About Jeff Dunham, he makes me laugh, and in this pathetic piece of shit world, full of disgusting humans, he brings a smile where it is often absent. If you don’t like his stuff, fine. I compare Dane Cook to being flicked in the face by a 5 year old for an hour straight. I also feel no need what’so ever to go on blogs and bitch about how he’s a no talent, rip off artist. In fact, having said that I feel no need to ever mention him again.
Jeff Dunham uses Stereotypes for the same reason Chris Rock uses them in all his movies, why Dave Chappelle uses them, why ALL comedians that do any kind of observational humor regarding people use them. THEY ARE FUNNY! I even laugh at most of the white guy stereotypes. For one good reason, I know the first rule of comedy! Take something real, then make it overblown and !COMICAL!
Is that a hard concept for you?
To those that call him unsophisticated, I suggest you take the stick out of your ass, and pay attention to some of the word play he uses.
To those that just don’t think he’s funny, fine, to each their own. But there is no reason to bash people that do find him funny.
I still think the show will be crappy, but I could be wrong. I don’t get cable and don’t intend to take the time to watch the show by other means, so it’s a moot point really. I just get tired of seeing this lame anti-white men crap that’s gotten so popular.
Well ive said my mind, and if you feel the need to speak yours go right ahead and leave a comment. You can also sign up right quick and discuss things in the forum.
